Federico Galatolo
Federico A. Galatolo, PhD in Information Engineering, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa. He is co-founder of the “Machine Learning and Process Intelligence” research initiative.
His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Bio-Inspired Architectures, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning. He is an expert on modern neural architectures, including convolutional neural networks (VGG, ResNet, Inception, UNet, mask-rcnn, etc.), temporal neural networks (RNN, LSTM, GRU, Transformers, etc.), generative architectures (GAN,, StyleGAN, Diffusion Models, etc.), and semi-supervised architectures (AutoEncoder, Variational AutoEncoder, Vector Quantized VAE, etc.) as well as the most recent training strategies for multimodal data, such as Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training and the Perceiver architecture.
He is passionate about cyber security and teaches binary exploitation to the University of Pisa’s CyberChallenge team. He is an outspoken supporter of the Free Software movement and actively contributes to the development of different free software projects
